A Dangerous Place

About two years ago, I read "A Dangerous Place" by Marc Reisner. It was a very sobering account of a hypothetical Mag 7.2 earthquake occurring along the Hayward Fault with catastrophic results. (Marc Reisner died before this book was completed and his wife finished it. Mr. Reisner was also the author of the critically acclaimed "Cadillac Desert: The American West and Its Disappearing Water.")

I was wondering if any of you have read the book and what your more knowledgeable opinions of it are? What is the plausability of such a cataclysmic event occurring in the manner Reisner describes?
