The following details are a small selection of coincidental timings, related to the above stated event. However, non of the correlations can be regarded as "contributing" to the actual event occurring (no proof !). Rather it is hoped that some would be viewed as an intriguing coincidence !

Moon map representing 15:45 UTC 27th October...

On 27th October 15:45 UTC, it was sunset and moonrise concurrently on the co-ordinates of this pre-seismic Jan Mayer epicentre. The moon remained visible above the horizon at this location for a further 98 hours 34 minutes, before eventually setting at 18:19 UTC 31st October. The suns longitude position at 15:45 UTC was 60'17'W... the opposite longitude calculates as 119'43'E (Palu, Sulawesi !).

Also at 15:45 UTC on this day, it was sunset on co-ordinates 20.564'E - 37.515'N M 6.8 Ionian Sea (25th Oct).

Moon map representing 15:16 UTC 31st October...

On 31st October 15:16 UTC, the moons position was geocentric on the sunrise terminator threshold on co-ordinated 139'11'W - 19'0'N. In turn, the suns position was geocentric on the setting lunar terminator threshold on co-ordinates 53'20'W - 14'13'S. At 15:16 UTC 1st November, it was sunset on the co-ordinates of the pre-seismic M 6.8 Jan Mayer event !

At 15:22 UTC on this day (31st Oct), it was sunset on the pre-seismic M 6.8 Jan Mayer epicentre... and sunrise on co-ordinates 129.214'W - 49'347'N M 6.8 SW of Port Hardy, Canada (22nd Oct).

Also on this day, the moon reached its Perigee distance of 363,831 km's.

Moon map representing 01:49 UTC 9th November...

On 9th November between times 01:49:14 UTC - 01:57:13 UTC, the sun and moon shared the same geocentric lateral position on latitude 16'48'S. As stated above, the M 6.8 Jan Mayer event occurred at 01:49:40 UTC (USGS). The next lateral sharing of sun and moon occurs on 14th November, when they will both be located on latitude 18'19'S.

Admission... I was working on my computer when the M 6.8 Jan Mayen event appeared on my screen. I took a "visual bearing" of the event location, from the new EMSC interactive seismic map... my calculations were based on this bearing. Unfortunately, I did not have the foresight to check that the  EMSC marker had been moved West from its initial location. As a consequence, most of the data will be invalid... I hold my hand up for this oversight, and apologies for any confusion.

Back to the drawing board as they say !

Good for you Duffy, that's the proper attitude.

Mistakes happen, and it probably won't be my last... but I will keep trying.

Thanks Roger... means a lot !
