North Pole M6.0 - Island Chris - 10-28-2017

may be the farthest north quake this big I've seen in the 30 years I've been watching global quakes. Just over 3 degrees latitude from the north pole, or about 350 km. M6.0

I think there is a spreading center plate boundary in the Arctic Ocean, but don't know whether it is near this quake.

No focal mechanism yet
Chris

There is a spreading center.

This links to a google maps 3d map zoomed on the epicenter. you can zoom out for context. The quake is in the ridge.
