California activity increase - Skywise - 07-11-2014

There's been quite an uptick in quake activity in California the past week. Right now the SCEC CA/NV main map has 1310 quakes for the week. It typically runs 700-800. I know Penny said something a week or so back and I kinda dismissed it. But there's definitely more activity now.

There's several 'swarms' or sequences going right now.

> After shocks from the Big Bear quake are continuing.
> A swarm of continuous small quakes in Redlands near the Gorgonio Knot.
> An increase in microquakes in the Mammoth region.
> A swarm in the Owens Valley in the Coso area.
> A slight bit more activity on the San Jacinto near Anza.

None of these regions are strangers to this kind of activity, but it seems unusual for them all to happen at once.

As Arsenio Hall used to say, "things that make you go hmmm...."
