The Northridge Earthquake was 20 years ago tomorrow. I think Kobe was 19 year ago tomorrow. At the time, if you asked many seismologists and earthquake geologist working on the region whether there would be more M6+ quakes in LA metro in the following 20 years, they would have given a real high probability. I may be forgetting something, but I don't think there has been a single M6+ in that region since Northridge (Hector Mines and El Major are not close to that region).

I recall the weather just before the quake. It was the classic "earthquake weather" - unseasonably warm, dry, winds. I had even commented on it to co-workers a couple days before the quake.

Much like we are having right now.

And, there was that 4.4 and 3.8 in the past day or two.
